SEED INOCULATION

Check out our step-by-step process on inoculating and caring for seeds with Bacteria Subtilis!

Step 1: Getting the Seeds

Rooted in Solutions stresses sourcing materials from sustainable and reputable outlets; hence, we source our seeds only from local community farms or from organic, non-GMO, and certified vendors.

Step 2: Culturing the Bacteria

After receiving an initial strain of B. Subtilis from a university laboratory, we allow the bacteria to multiply on an autoclaved agar plate, ensuring sterilization and safety.

Step 3: Planting and Inoculation

We inoculate the seeds with the cultured B. Subtilis and plant the seeds in various containers under a grow light, ensuring a semi-sterile environment that allows the bacteria to colonize the roots.

Step 4: Progress Tracking and Re-Inoculation

Until the seedlings are sufficiently grown, we precisely water them daily, monitor their growth, and re-inoculate the seeds, if needed, until they are ready to be given back to the community.

Step 5: Sending them Back!

Finally, once we’ve ensured that the seeds are ready to thrive in a garden environment, we deliver them back to the various community gardens in our vicinity, where they will grow, be harvested, and feed thousands of Atlanta residents.
